Jacob’s Story
Jacob is a 9-year-old boy who has faced severe family and health challenges. He lives with his mother, father, and three sisters. The family experienced a traumatic event when their home was deliberately set on fire by a neighbour, leaving them homeless. During the incident, Jacob’s mother sustained severe burns and required urgent medical attention, while most of their belongings, including important medical documents and medications, were destroyed.
 
Jacob is got complicated health issues. However, following the loss of medical records and documentation, he has been unable to access his medication, and his treatment has been interrupted. This has resulted in ongoing health concerns.
 
He currently experiences multiple health issues, including a persistent cough, skin conditions, and general weakness, which are worsened by poor nutrition and unstable living conditions.
Jacob's father is living with HIV and is currently bedridden, with inconsistent adherence to treatment. His mother, due to severe injuries and trauma from the fire, is also struggling to maintain her own treatment and caregiving responsibilities.
Jacob has never attended school, as the family has been unable to afford school fees. At present, the family has no stable housing, limited access to medical care, and inadequate nutrition.
 
He is now staying at Manna Rescue Home and is having so much fun being in school for the first time but he still got a long way to go to get his health back on track.
