Vanessa is a lively and curious 7-year-old girl who enjoys school—especially singing and storytelling. She lives with her mother and three siblings, all being raised by their hardworking mum after their father left the family over three years ago and has not been seen since. Vanessa’s mother does subsistence farming and sells second-hand clothes to support the family, but income is never guaranteed.
 
Despite the struggles, Vanessa wakes up each morning excited to go to school. She dreams of becoming a teacher one day. With support from the YES Uganda sponsorship program, Vanessa could continue learning in a stable environment and grow up with the chance to reach her potential.
