Ocean is a gentle and thoughtful 7-year-old girl who lives with her mother and two older sisters, in a small mud house in the village. Life at home is difficult. Her mother sells alcohol from the house to survive, but this often creates an unsafe environment for young children like Ocean. Their father is not present, and the family struggles to meet even basic needs.
 
Ocean looks up to her older sister, who is already receiving support through the YES Uganda sponsorship program. Her other sister, Daisy, is also hoping for the chance to be sponsored—and now, so is Ocean. She has just started Primary 1 and is excited to learn, but without support, staying in school will be a challenge. With help from the YES Uganda sponsorship program, Ocean can begin her educational journey in a safe and stable way, with the hope of building a brighter future.
