Jen’s Story
Jen is a 13-year-old girl currently studying in Primary 4. she has got complicated health issues, Jen came into the world as a twin, but her early childhood was marked by profound loss and difficult circumstances.
Her mother, who was living with HIV, sadly passed away after struggling with consistent access to and use of medication. Not long after, Jen lost her twin sister as well—another heartbreaking loss connected to challenges in maintaining treatment. These experiences have left deep emotional wounds, placing a heavy burden on Jen at a very young age.
Today, Jen lives with her father, who loves her deeply and is committed to caring for her. However, he faces significant challenges. Due to limited knowledge about her care and financial hardship, it has been difficult for him to fully support Jen’s medical and daily needs, including maintaining a consistent treatment routine.
The family lives in poverty, with very limited resources. This has affected both Jen’s health and her education. Ongoing challenges at home, along with her health condition, have led to frequent school absences. As a result, she has missed valuable learning time and fallen behind her peers.
Jen’s situation was brought to wider attention through a hospital referral, where concerns were raised about her wellbeing and home environment. Despite everything she has gone through, Jen is not without love. Her father continues to do his best with the little he has, standing by her through every challenge.
