Jay is a brave and caring 7-year-old boy with a big heart. He lives in a small mud house with his father, who sadly lost his eyesight after a work-related chemical accident. Since then, life has never been the same. Jay’s mother, overwhelmed by the situation, chose to leave the family and start a new life. His brothers and sisters went with her—but Jay refused. He chose to stay and care for his blind father, even though he is just a child himself. Every day, Jay helps his father with cooking, cleaning, and guiding him through daily life.
 
He’s only in Primary 2, but his strength and love are far beyond his years. They own their home, but with no income, Jay’s father can no longer afford school fees. Jay dreams of continuing his education, but right now, that dream is at risk. With support from the YES Uganda sponsorship program, Jay can return to school, continue learning, and be given the chance to grow into the incredible young man he’s already becoming.
